Privacy Policy & Terms of Service – WC Finder

As of: 15.07.2026

We are pleased that you are using our app „WC Finder“. The protection of your personal data is very important to us. In this privacy policy, we explain in a transparent and understandable way which data we collect, why we do so, and what rights you have.

1. Controller

The controller responsible for data processing in this app within the meaning of the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) is:

  • Name: Jerome-Antonio Tan

  • Address: Lange Str. 36, 31675 Bückeburg

  • Email: contact@102dev.com

  • Data Protection Contact: contact@102dev.com

  • Website: www.102dev.com

2. Permissions Required by the App

In order for the app to function properly, we request the following permissions via the operating system (iOS/Android):

  • Location (only when actively using the app): To show you public toilets in your area. There is no continuous background access.

  • Internet access: To load map data, app content, and advertisements, as well as to synchronize changes.

  • Opening external apps: To start, for example, your phone app, your email program, or your navigation app when you tap on the corresponding contact or route buttons.

We do not access your contacts, camera, or microphone.

3. Data Processing when Using the App

3.1 Location Data

If you consent to location sharing in your device settings, we collect your current location (GPS data).

  • Purpose: Displaying nearby locations, calculating distances, and centering the map.

  • Storage: Processing takes place locally on your device. Your location is not permanently stored by us, and no movement profile is created.

  • Legal basis: Your consent (Art. 6 para. 1 lit. a GDPR). You can withdraw your location consent at any time in your smartphone’s settings.

3.2 User Account and Registration

You do not need an account simply to view the map. However, if you wish to suggest new locations or modify existing data, a user account is required. We use Firebase Authentication for this purpose.

Depending on the chosen login method, the following data is processed:

  • Email & Password: Your email address and a password.

  • Apple Login: Apple User Identifier, authentication token, and, if applicable, your name and email address. You can also use Apple’s “Hide My Email” feature, in which case we will only receive an anonymous relay address.

  • Google Login: Google account ID, auth token, email address, and, if applicable, your name/profil picture.

  • Additionally: An internal user ID (Firebase User ID), technical security data (e.g., IP address, user agent) to prevent abuse.

  • Purpose: Provision of the account, secure login.

  • Legal basis: Performance of a contract or steps prior to entering into a contract (Art. 6 para. 1 lit. b GDPR) as well as our legitimate interest in the security of the app (Art. 6 para. 1 lit. f GDPR).

3.3 Suggestions and Modifications by Users

If you suggest a new toilet location or modify data as a registered user, we store the following in our database (Firebase Cloud Firestore):

  • Your user ID

  • Entered data (name, location coordinates, features, opening hours, payment methods, contact details)

  • Timestamp and editing status

  • Purpose: Verification, management, and publication of the suggested locations.

  • Legal basis: Performance of a contract for the provision of this app function (Art. 6 para. 1 lit. b GDPR).

Important note on storage: If you delete your user account, your suggestions and modifications made up to that point will remain in the app (without direct reference to your name). This is necessary for us to maintain the quality and history of the database (legitimate interest, Art. 6 para. 1 lit. f GDPR).

3.4 Contact Functions and External Apps

The app contains data on public toilets (including data from OpenStreetMap). If you tap on a phone number, email address, website, or physical address, the app transfers this information to your device’s default app (e.g., your email program). This data processing takes place locally on your device.

4. Services and Third-Party Providers

To provide and finance the app, we use services from third-party providers.

4.1 Google Firebase (Hosting, Database, Analytics)

We use Firebase, a service of Google Ireland Limited, Gordon House, Barrow Street, Dublin 4, Ireland (parent company: Google LLC, USA).

  • Firebase Authentication & Cloud Firestore: To manage user accounts and store app content (as described under 3.2 and 3.3).

  • Firebase Analytics: We collect anonymized usage data (e.g., how often the app is opened) to fix bugs and improve the app. No directly identifying data is sent. This is enabled by default, but you can deactivate analytics at any time in the app settings.

  • Legal basis: For Analytics, your consent (Art. 6 para. 1 lit. a GDPR); for the core technical functions, performance of a contract (Art. 6 para. 1 lit. b GDPR) and our legitimate interest in a stable app (Art. 6 para. 1 lit. f GDPR).

4.2 Google Maps Platform

To display maps and locations, we integrate Google Maps. Technical data (e.g., IP address, device data) and your location data (if shared) are transmitted to Google.

  • Legal basis: Performance of a contract for the map function (Art. 6 para. 1 lit. b GDPR) or your consent for the use of location data (Art. 6 para. 1 lit. a GDPR).

4.3 Google AdMob (Advertising)

To finance the app, we display advertising banners via Google AdMob.

  • Processed data: Device information, IP address, app usage data, and your operating system’s advertising ID.

  • Personalized advertising: Whether you see personalized or non-personalized advertising depends on your consent, which we request when the app is first opened (consent according to Art. 6 para. 1 lit. a GDPR), as well as your general device settings.

  • Withdrawal: You can withdraw or restrict your consent to personalized advertising at any time in the app settings or via the privacy settings of your operating system (iOS/Android).

4.4 International Data Transfer

The parent companies of Google and Apple are based in the USA. It is therefore possible that data may be transferred to the USA or other third countries. Both Google and Apple are certified under the EU-US Data Privacy Framework, which guarantees a level of data protection comparable to that of the EU. Furthermore, EU Commission Standard Contractual Clauses apply as additional safeguards.

5. Storage Duration

We store your data only as long as necessary for the respective purpose:

  • User account: Until you delete your account in the app. Firebase deletes the authentication data according to your deletion requests.

  • Suggestions: Remain in the app even after account deletion to preserve database quality (see 3.3).

  • Analytics data: Automatically deleted according to the retention periods we have set with Google. Local settings (e.g., whether you have opted out of analytics) remain stored on your device.

Insofar as statutory retention obligations (Art. 6 para. 1 lit. c GDPR) exist, we store data for the legally prescribed duration.

6. Your Rights as a User

Under the GDPR, you have the following rights:

  • Access (Art. 15 GDPR): You can request information at any time about which of your personal data we have stored.

  • Rectification (Art. 16 GDPR): You have the right to have inaccurate or incomplete data corrected.

  • Erasure (Art. 17 GDPR): You can request the deletion of your account and your personal data (this option is available directly in the app).

  • Restriction of processing (Art. 18 GDPR): You can demand the restriction of data processing under certain conditions.

  • Data portability (Art. 20 GDPR): You have the right to receive your data in a structured, commonly used, and machine-readable format.

  • Withdrawal of consent (Art. 7 para. 3 GDPR): You can withdraw any consent given (e.g., for location, analytics, advertising) at any time with future effect (usually directly in the app settings or system settings).

  • Objection (Art. 21 GDPR): You can object to the processing of your data if it is based on our legitimate interests.

To exercise your rights, a simple informal email is sufficient: contact@102dev.com

Right to lodge a complaint: You also have the right to lodge a complaint with a competent data protection supervisory authority (Art. 77 GDPR).
